EAGLE CREEK ----- Henderson H. Brackett Passes On; hall Farm Purchased By Eastern Oregon Man; Shirley Burnett Graduates; Much Building Going On; 22 Men at Work on Road; Sunday School Rally Sunday. ----- Eagle Creek, June 9-- Henderson H. Brackett, a resident of this vicinity since 1866, passed away at his home here Sunday after a month's illness. Funeral services were held in the local church Tuesday, with Rev. E. D. L. Hollinsted officiating. Interment was in the Forrester cemetery. Mr. Brackett was born in Frankfort, Ky., October 20, 1834, being nearly 98 years of age at the time of his death. In early life he moved to Missouri, where he met and married Mary Judd. Together they crossed the plains in 1865 and settled in Marion county. A year later they moved to this vicintiy, settling on a homestead, where he has since resided. His wife, a sister of the late Pleasant Judd, well known pioneer of this neighborhood passed away in 1922. To them were born twelve children, of whom the following five survive: J. A. , The Dalles; J. L., Wasco; H. H., Rufus; Mrs. Lettie Oehman, The Dalles, and Mrs. Dora Clester, Eagle Creek. he is also survived by one brother Joseph, Newton, Mo., 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, Mr. Brackett was noted for his splendid physique, being recognized as one of the most powerful men of his time in the community. He retained his mental faculties to the end, although being very deaf the last few years. A host of relatives and friends were present to pay their last respects.
