MILAN REPUBLICAN - Milan, Missouri Thursday August 14, 1902

Mrs. Arena BAKER SINCLAIR was born in Tyler County, Virginia August 31, 1821, and departed this life at the old family residence, three miles northwest of Boynton, 7:10 P.M., August 1, 1902 thus but thirty days of being 81 years old.  She married to John B. SINCLAIR in Monroe County, Ohio in June 1846.  He died December 30, 1892.  They had eight children, six of whom are living; William H., John L., Thomas H., Sterling P., Mrs. Sarah J. Crawford and Miss Jennie.  She joined the M. E. Church South over thirty years and was a christian wife and mother.  Eight years ago she received a fall which so injured her as to confine her to the bed almost canstantly.  In the midst of her suffering she manifested great christian fortitude and patience.  The SINCLAIRS were among the earliest settlers of Sullivan County.  They had lived at this homestead forty-two years.

Her funeral was preached at Elmwoods, Saturday, August 2, 1902.  May God bless the bereaved.
