List of Known Kauffmans to America up to 1764

~ In chronological order of arrival

Last updated: September 28, 2015 at 15:42 pm

My Coffman’s came to this country in its founding years. And I’ve hit a brick wall with Abraham. So I thought why not look for the Coffman or Kauffman (whatever the spelling) that came over early in the founding of the country. Abraham was born in this country so maybe it was his father than came over. Abraham was born supposedly about 1764 so his mother would HAVE to be here by then. And the probability is high that his father was here by then as well. But I found it quite — well, challenging — to find a list of every Kauffman/Coffman who came over up to 1764 so I could include all the data from the A genealogy and history of Kauffman-Coffman families of North America, 1584 to 1937. So below is the beginning of the list. I do not consider it complete — but it has quite a few names now.

The number just under the last name is a reference number. Look at the bottom of the page for the source for that particular person. Each row is a separate individual; if three Kauffman’s came over on the same ship, they are listed individually.

Since the page was created, the main reference source now only exists on The Wayback Machine. Links will reference you to those pages. Personally, I then used the Clearly app to save those pages into Evernote. ~ 28-Sep-2015

Note: Long after this page was online, I found this great resource: Kauffmans to Pennsylvania (original link was “homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~kauffman/kauffman/immi.html”) ©1997 which sadly didn’t get copied to the WayBack Machine site either.
