(Family) Genealogy State Research Links
This page is not meant to provide every possible link for each state.
These are links I’ve found beneficial in research.
Links for Illinois and its genealogy:
- Illinois Public Domain Land Tract Sales Database – this site does not show the original document but key data from the document. A copy of the original can be obtained from the site. The exact location can be shown on maps on the site. You can search for the purchaser as well.
Links for Kentucky and its genealogy:
- Hardin County Clerk’s Office records – Click on Record Search, login as Guest. I found recorded records of both my Coffman’s and Pearman’s on this site.
- USGenWeb Archives Kentucky – Includes links to county archives (some have cemetery listings) as well as links to statewide archives.
- Revolutionary War Soldiers & Pensioners of Kentucky – includes list of pensioners broken into counties. This page hasn’t been updated since 2008.
- Kentucky Cemeteries from The Tombstone Transcription Project.
- More Kentucky Cemeteries – make sure you check both of these listings as they do contain different information.
- Find A Grave Kentucky – Various means of look-up. Click on the “more search options”; it offers various ways to filter your search.
- Hardin County Cemetery Records (from AccessGenealogy.com) – this has a list of entries by surname.
- Ancestral Trails Historical Society – Check the archives as well as quarterly links. Unfortunately not much is online.
- Kentucky Historical Society on the Kentucky Historical Society page.
- The Kentucky Genealogical Society.
- Stories from Hardin County’s History – The links here are in PDF files. Those are not always searched via search engines. It’s worth looking through these.
Links for Missouri and its genealogy:
- Missouri Online Resources and Databases
- Missouri Birth and Death Records — Missouri has a very active group of volunteers who continue to increase these records.
- Missouri Death Certificates – The Missouri death certificates posted index is complete for 1910 -1 1956 and images are available for 1910 – 1936 and 1945 – 1956.
- Missouri Digital Heritage – the timeline below is on this site.
- Timeline of Missouri History
- Grundy County Cemeteries
- History of Missouri
- Pictures of Laredo, Missouri – town and people
- Missouri Soldiers Database, War of 1812-World War I – if you have family that enlisted in Missouri, you are indeed fortunate. This is a rare database. I’m not sure any other state has one like it.
- Missouri Newspapers ~ I’ve started with the one in 1836 printed in Liberty, Missouri. Although I haven’t found anything about an ancestor, it is fascinating reading.
- Grundy County Jewett Norris Library — click on the Genealogy link. The library has a great genealogy section; a must-visit place if you have ancestors from that area.
- Digital Grundy County Newspapers ~ free access.
- Digital Livingston County ~ free access.
- Digital Putnam County Newspapers ~ free access
COMING SOON ~ Massachusetts
Links for Virginia and its genealogy:
Much has been written that Abraham Coffman came from Shenandoah County, Virginia. I have found no primary or even secondary evidence of this. However, there are Coffman’s who lived there during his time.
