    Notes:

The man had at least three marriages, possibly more. And children -- well over 20.

His father died in 1885 when he was just 7 years old when his father died. He was also the last child. I believed he lacked discipline growing up and maybe that is why he was absolutely horrid to Zorada & his children by her. Truly believed that her place was to be barefoot & pregnant. Cruel to Zorada's children until the day they left home. Would not allow any of Zorada's children to go past the 8th grade but all his other children could.

William married SINCLAIR, Zorada Eva ✓ on 2 Aug 1897 in Pollock, Sullivan County, Missouri, USA. Zorada (daughter of SINCLAIR, John Linn ✓ and MILLER, Mary Catherine ✓) was born on 17 Jul 1881 in Chariton County, Missouri, USA; died on 1 Sep 1909 in Sullivan County, Missouri, USA; was buried in 6 miles East of Milan, Sullivan County, Missouri, USA. Other Events and Attributes:

    • Census: 1900, Boynton, Jackson Township, Sullivan County, Missouri, USA; Marital Status: Married; Relation to Head of House: Daughter-in-law

    Notes:

I have found little about Zorada's life up to the age of 15. She became pregnant and married less than a month after her 16th birthday. From that day on, her life was not a happy one. William believed in barefoot, pregnant & in the kitchen. While there are no records of miscarriages between the birth of her six living children, I'm sure she had several. I have no pictures of her & there are no records found thus from her marriage date. My mother was only three when her mother died and she always got tears in her eyes when she rarely talked about Zorada.

From Frank Livingston family; Connie Livingston (wife) notes, obtained from her daughter Jo Ann McCormack, have Zorada middle name Myrtle. Frank told Jo Ann that he remembered that his mother had a big growth on her side (before she died). Research has shown that her middle name was Eva.

Name: Apparently she was called Zoradie as a nickname. But her name was NEVER Zoradia which is on her tombstone. That was erected at William Livingston's death by his "other" children. Mother and her brothers & sister were NOT asked. Mother was so upset by this and seeing how much it bothered her, I rarely brought it up. My dad entered her name on mother's obituary as Zorado (which is masculine). I could have had it changed but he took my mother's death very hard. I chose not to upset him -- it would have. Bless him, he was 150% he was right and the man would never have thought otherwise.

    Notes:

In the 1850 census, Reuben Livingston and Gilbert Livingston lived next to each other (dwelling 38 and 37 respectively). In dwelling #39 lives James Livingston. Reuben, Gilbert, and James were all born in Kentucky. I believe there is a good possibility given their ages that they are all brothers. James was 45; Reuben was 38; and Gilbert was 30. James and his wife could not read or write but the other brothers and their wives could.

I cannot find Hugh LIVINGSTON in an 1860 census. He might have been living in Illinois or Missouri. He enlisted in the Union army in Illinois.
