    He is Verified but no longer as my 2nd great-grandfather. His obit has no mention of Eliza nor does any of the census have these two people together.

    THE FACT IS I ASSUMED that because Milton was in so many Coffman family pictures --well, you can guess the rest. Eliza was born when he was only 15 years old.

    I now have found who I believe is her father. Milton is related to her father but working out now how. Cousin? Nephew? 24-Apr-2020

    is granddaughter told the family that his parents died 3 weeks after he was born on August 14, 1840. Wouldn't they be in the 1840 census? He was raised by an older couple who he thought of as grandparents. Further research found him in the home of Joseph ROOKS and they were his grandparents. I have been unable to find the name of Joseph's daughter who was his mother.

    The date of birth & location are based on various trees that have NO sources. First saw her name on MyHeritage trees. I've requested membership to several. Perhaps I will find more information on those.

    Birth: Other "sources" state he was born in 1772 in Kentucky. I believe that was taken from a single census. His wife was born in KY; he was not.

    Kentucky is also listed as birth state on FindaGrave. But again, believe is incorrect. The only "documented" source of KY birth was a single census. In all other documented he was born in PA.

    Since FindAGrave does not have an image of the gravestone, going with other documentation.

    This old family cemetery has been poorly maintained. No stone for Joseph or his wife Elizabeth.
