1572 South Carolina or North Carolina -- more info is needed before determining which birth 'state' is correct. I sincerely doubt that New Jersey is correct. Another Daniel McCollum was from the Carolina's and was a Revolutionary War soldier but he died in Georgia. The census records do not make it clear but it is almost 99% surety that the GA Rev soldier is *not* my Daniel McCollum.

'Colonial Families of the USA, 1607-1775' -- See son Peter GARDNER source. Couldn't get it to save to Thomas. This also where I got the death date for wife.

Another Ancestry source I can't save to Thomas is https://www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/10267/images/dvm_GenMono000089-00007-0?treeid=160212268&personid=282205504476&hintid=1020308757931&usePUB=true&_phsrc=mcm1762&_phstart=default&usePUBJs=true&pId=16&backurl=https%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ancestry.com%2Fcgi-bin%2Fsse.dll%3Findiv%3D1%26dbid%3D10267%26h%3D16%26tid%3D160212268%26pid%3D282205504476%26hid%3D1020308757931%26usePUB%3Dtrue%26_phsrc%3Dmcm1762%26_phstart%3Ddefault%26usePUBJs%3Dtrue

1586 Surname is also found as GEAL and GALLE, but GALE is the most used spelling. GALE, Abraham (I1156)

The birthdate is based on the 1830 census that has a male in the 50-59.

Possibly served in the War of 1812. A record exists on Fold3 along with a Land Grant More research is needed.
-----------
6/18/2020 - I removed Thomas Livingston b. 1740 VA d. 1810 KY from the tree. I can find NOTHING that validates or even hints that he was John's father. Below are the notes from Thomas Livingston:
-- There is a court record from Augusta Co ? that says Thomas and his brother are orphans of Robert Livingston.
-- I do not believe Nancy Bryant Taliferro (sp?)is his wife. She WAS married to a Thomas Livingston and they had 3 sons, Thomas was not named as one of the 3.
-- If this Thomas WAS an orphan it would explain why the ancestry research pretty much stops at John.

1595 The 1830 census John Baker might be her grandfather but not her father. The only male was in the 70s. Arena would have been just 9 years old. This was an old couple with children grown.
