What’s Happened …
While little has happened on this site over the last couple of years, a lot of work has been done elsewhere, mostly on my TNG site. TNG is THE NEXT GENERATION OF GENEALOGY SITEBUILDING, a product that provides “a powerful way to manage and display your family tree on your own website, without the hundreds of HTML pages you get with other programs. All you need is a website, your data and TNG!”
Why I chose TNG over Family Tree Maker, Legacy, or RootsMagic…
I have used all three of these major genealogy programs. FTM I still have. Legacy and me, well…we just didn’t ‘think’ alike. I liked many things about RootsMagic, but then FTM added the sorta automagic uploading to Ancestry. For me, I wanted — needed that to work — more so it was back to Family Tree Maker.
As time flew by, I started thinking about which people might take over our family genealogy. I came to realize that every person who was a maybe, every person who was a baby or toddler, would more likely continue the genealogy in a web-based genealogy program. I had experimented with TNG several years earlier.
TNG is more than reasonably priced. A huge forum of TNG users providing help. An excellent Wiki. And I haven’t looked back since. The your-own-website I already had — this one. You’ll find my TNG, which means my complete database here: https://idogenealogy.info/tng
You can’t see living people.
I have notes that are “private”.
Love the maps. Now can see where a-place-I’ve-never-heard-of actually is.
My site was just updated to the latest version.
Along with the above, using AI for research, which found a g-g-g-grandmother, and that proved I had brought an error into my data, sigh! YEARS ago. Now corrected. I need to update some pages on this site.
