Researching Isaac Milton COLLINS

Milton COLLINS (Abt 1841 – 15-Jul-1929) was orphaned when he was 2-3 weeks old. For years members of my family only knew that he was taken in by an old couple that he always called Grandpa & Grandma. No one knew if they were really his maternal grandparents (they were).

But who his parents were is still a mystery. Usually one of the hardest things to find is the maiden name of a woman. Her maiden name was ROOKS; her parents were Joseph Henry & Elizabeth (JACKSON) ROOKS, early settlers in Grundy County, Missouri. They were the “old” people who raised I. Milton COLLINS.

Other than the surname COLLINS I have found nothing, absolutely nothing, about his father.

Nor have I found any information on what happened to his parents. Was it an accident? an illness? Milton COLLINS obituary states he was orphaned when he was only 14 days old & taken in by his grandparents.

I’ve started a page containing my working research. Comments are open on the page if you have something to add. I’ve added a new section to the top nav menu “Current Research”.

The Begats: Milton COLLINS begat Eliza COLLINS who begat “Vina” COFFMAN.

The page is updated often. Posts will only be made when I’ve had a major breakthrough.
